Welcome to '''UABgrid'''.
The introduction to UAB Research Computing resources has been moved to https://docs.rc.uab.edu .

UABgrid is a technology platform designed to support sharing data, accessing compute power, and collaborating on campus and around the globe.  It is an information network that supports the exchange of services between trusted providers and users.

UABgrid is a pilot project of UAB IT that was launched in September 2007.  The pilot is focused on demonstrating the utility of this technology platform in three key areas:

* '''High-Performance Computing''' (HPC)
* '''Data Sharing'''
* '''Collaboration'''

UABgrid is being built on technologies that are the foundation of many national and international initiatives like  [https://cabig.nci.nih.gov caBIG], the [http://opensciencegrid.org/ Open Science Grid], [http://www.teragrid.org/ TeraGrid], and the [http://lcg.web.cern.ch/LCG/ LHC Computing Grid].

UABgrid construction is being lead by UAB IT in collaboration with a growing list of collaborators on campus, including Computer Science, Engineering, CCC, CCTS, and HSIS.  UABgrid follows the open source development model, and its construction is managed via the [http://dev.uabgrid.uab.edu development portal].
